Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep star in this complex comedy crime-drama about a man’s attempt to overcome his writer’s block, directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich). Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Cage) is having trouble transforming a non-fiction book by Susan Orlean (Streep) into promising script and thus Hollywood celluloid, so he turns to his brother Donald (also played by Cage) for help. The main problem with his brother is that he doesn’t actually exist outside of Charlie’s head. And when the „two” of them do find a mechanism for bringing the work alive, it only brings unexpected and far from desirable consequences. Also starring Chris Cooper (in an Oscar-winning support role) and Brian Cox.
