Ferdinand

Go3 Films | 2026-10-01 16:00 | 18:00

Ferdinand, a massive but gentle bull (voiced by WWE’s John Cena), tries to find his way back home after being sent to a bull fighting ranch for accidentally trashing a flower market in this charming animated bovine road movie based on Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson’s 1936 children’s book The Story of Ferdinand and produced by Blue Sky (Rio/Ice Age). Ferdinand is from proud bullfighting stock, but he prefers flowers. His father doesn’t care, though; Ferdinand is to be a fighting bull, just like him. One day, when his father doesn’t return from a fight, the young Ferdinand does a runner to a flower farm where he makes friends with a human girl and her pet dog. It’s the perfect life for Ferdinand but, of course, it can’t last. Fully grown Ferdinand may be soft inside, but he looks like a mean, lean bullfighting machine – people cross the road to avoid him and shut their doors at the sight of him. But at least he’s not in a china shop… except that, in one scene, he is! So, when a bee stings Ferdinand on the backside at a flower festival, the resulting roar he lets out makes our docile hero seem like the monster that people assume he is, and he gets sent back to the fight academy. Can he escape again before he is pitted against renowned matador El Primero (Miguel Angel Silvestre)? Let’s hope so ‘cos he ain’t interested in charging at no red cape. Also featuring the voices of Gina Rodriguez, Kate McKinnon, David Tennant and Sally Phillips. First play on Film4.
