Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen star in writer-director Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama. Cory Lambert (Renner) works for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, tracking and killing problem predators in and around the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. One winter, while trailing mountain lions in the wilderness, he finds a young woman dead in the snow, frozen, barefoot and with blood around her mouth and groin. She’s 18-year-old Natalie Hanson (Kelsey Asbille), the daughter of his friend Martin (Gil Birmingham). FBI agent Jane Banner (Olsen) arrives from Las Vegas to investigate. She’s wholly unprepared for the deadly cold, but significantly more sympathetic to the death of a Native American than is usual for the Bureau. She’s outraged when the coroner (accurately) says the cause of death was pulmonary haemorrhage. Natalie was clearly repeatedly raped before she died, but without „homicide” on her death certificate, Banner can’t bring an FBI investigative team to the reservation. Banner seeks Lambert’s help. He agrees, not least because his own daughter suffered a similar fate; and he’s prepared to use his skills to avenge both the young women’s deaths. Network Premiere.
