Animated adventure set before the lead character meets Shrek. Our hero has been called many names through the years, but currently – thanks to his distinctive footwear – he is Puss in Boots. A talking ginger cat, Puss (voiced by Antonio Banderas) is a thieving outlaw who dreams of getting his paws on some legendary magic beans. They are the only way of reaching a castle where a giant keeps a goose that lays golden eggs. And, one fateful night during a festival, he is told that a couple called Jack (Billy Bob Thornton) and Jill (Amy Sedaris) have the beans under lock and key. Unfortunately, they are also ruthless killers, so stealing the beans won’t be easy. Equally unfortunately, the famously light-fingered cat Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) is also out to make the beans hers. Who will get there first? With Zach Galifianakis providing the voice of Puss’s estranged friend Humpty Alexander Dumpty. Directed by Chris Miller. First play on Film4 (previously seen on Channel 4).
