The third instalment of the spooky animated comedy sees Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez and Andy Samberg reprise their roles as a family of misfit monsters. Everyone around Dracula (Sandler) is busy getting hitched and falling in love, yet poor Drac can’t seem to find his ‘zing’. But when his daughter Mavis (Gomez) takes him and the family on a monster-friendly cruise, things take a sudden turn. Captain Ericka (Kathryn Hahn) is the apparently bubbly, kind-hearted woman running the ship, and it’s love at first sight for our vampiric friend. There’s just one problem: Ericka comes from a long line of monster hunters, and she wants Dracula dead. Talk about red flags. Luckily, Dracula is a dab hand at unwittingly avoiding murder attempts. Nothing she throws at him sticks… or, ahem, stakes. And after spending some time with the family of ghosts, ghouls and assorted wretches, Ericka begins to doubt everything she’s ever known. Maybe monsters aren’t so bad after all. And maybe – just maybe – there’s hope for this unconventional romance. First play on Film4.
