„Remember that phone that everyone had before an iPhone?” So asks a minor character in this funny, frenetic, flabbergasting and – mostly – factual story of the steep rise and precipitous fall of the once ubiquitous handheld phone and email device, starring director and co-writer Matt Johnson, Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Jay Baruchel. Childhood friends Mike Lazaridis (Baruchel) and Doug Fregin (Johnson) sell modems that they’ve designed and built. They’ve also found a clever way of stuffing email into a phone. But they don’t have the wherewithal to market it themselves. Roll up Jim Balsillie (Howerton), a dead-eyed corporate shark who’s just lost his job for undercutting a colleague and who literally bets everything on these nerds’ invention.
